Kevin, I have heard this problem before. Some people have solved it by transferring their service to a new SIM card. And what type of phone are you using? It goes from 1x to 4gb. That phone is likely using the Verizon towers. Does Verizon have service in your area? It sounds like you are not getting a LTE data connection. Did you put the SIM card in the phone?
You may need to call support and ask them why you are not getting an LTE connection. I am having the same problem. I ran out of high-speed and got a mew card. Not sure what the issue is.
